The Seat-Pitch Paradox

This graph illustrates the increasing size of adult Americans between 1988 and 2002. Also illustrated is the trend by the airlines to accommodate these larger people with smaller seat pitch. While Americans are getting larger, seating configurations are getting smaller. And larger people are producing more CO2.

Passengers are more densely packed and producing more CO2. Yet, freshly infused air during the boarding process is barely provided and boarding is when fresh air is needed.
